Director of Development

Prior to joining BW&A in 2011, Doug served as the Director of Economic Development for the County of Roanoke, Virginia for the past 14 years.  While at the County, his primary responsibilities were to coordinate the County’s economic development efforts and to lead and mentor professional staff in the planning and implementation of marketing, product development, and existing business retention and expansion programs.  In this position he also oversaw the development of the County business and industrial centers as well as a number of commercial and residential developments.  Prior to this position, Doug worked both in the private sector as a Director of Commercial Development for a regional developer as well as a in the public sector in other economic development roles.  Doug attended James Madison University and has served on a number of boards including the Virginia Economic Development Association, The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge, The Roanoke Valley Horse Show and the Roanoke Small Business Incubator.
